With Kid Pix Deluxe Third Edition, your child can use his or her mouse, voice, and wildest imagination to create masterpieces on the computer. They'll go beyond mere virtual painting to smear, gloop, and smudge colors on a canvas that can be smooth, rough, or lizard-skinned. They'll use animated clip art, find psychedelic backgrounds, and even add music or sound effects to their creations. Then you'll send your kid to bed and start playing with Kid Pix yourself. It's that good.

The program can feel a bit incomprehensible at first. After a quick installation, users encounter a screen with the usual icons--paintbrush, paint can, pencil. But there's also a cake mixer, a stick of dynamite, and a bald guy. All of this oddness is explained in the user's guide, but it's better to just jump into the right-brain spirit of this program and start clicking. Exploration reveals that the bald guy erases, while providing a running commentary, the mixer mixes colors, and the dynamite ignites, splutters, and then blows up the whole picture. Every tool here clanks, splooshes, or kerplunks, which makes Kid Pix Deluxe as close to tactile as a computer-painting program is ever going to get.

On the practical side, there are templates for maps, charts, and reports that could be useful for school projects. Kids can also import their own photographs into the program, and tweak them as they see fit. Finished works of art can be put in a "slideshow," where auteurs can mess around with dissolves, fades, and more sound effects to complete their creations.

I great art program with more then just paint!...

This game is great! But be carful your parents might just send you to bed early so thay can play it! It's that good!
I wasn't sure about this because I thout it woudn't have the wacky brush in Kid Pix Studio Deluxe becase it wasn't studio, this is better because you have a wacky brush and a lot of other cool stuff! There is a cool thing that you can paint with your voice!... It has rich colors just like in expert art programs yet it's easy a nough for a 9 year old and as I heard a 3 and 4 year old! Every tool makes sounds and every tool moves! This game isn't just for kids! DO NOT Beleve that there are no File Help or Edit like one person said, all you do is move the mouse to the top of the screen and your cursor will turn into a arow, click the mouse button and thay all will pop up! Move the mouse away and thay will disappear

Family Fun

I just bought Kid Pix Deluxe 3rd Edition. I bought it for my 3 year old son and he loves it. It is simple enough for him to use. We have only had it for 2 days now and he already knows how to change the brushes,colors, etc. This product also keeps his attention. There are amazing sound effects to go with every action. My husband and I have fun with the more advanced features, paper texture,adding sounds and personal pictures,etc. The best part of the product is the e-mail component. It let's you send your creations to friends and family. This product is a great entertainment for the whole family, from the littlest to the oldest. I highly recommend it.

I spend all day with this product!

I almost stayed all day with this product when I did not have XP yet.I have XP now but I like to remember the good times on Windows 98!Soime people say that it is not very good on XP.I wonder if it's true?Can somebody tell me?Anyway you can make your own pictures that comes with sounds that are,so,so,Funky that you'll laugh and enjoy!Plus,Much much much more to do!In only the day I bought this CD I knew how to do it all!
