Flight Sim 2004 is wonderful!
My system can almost max out the graphics, it is a Pent. 4, with a lot of video memory. If I set the graphics too high, then the graphics falter more, and the game is not smooth. But a high end system can really do wonders with this game. The ability to have real world weather is nice, unless it is night. I bought a low end flight joystick from Logitech, the Extreme 3D Pro, and it has worked well. If you are going to spend 2-3 hours playing a videogame on a Saturday, this is the one...the new version X seems to have many bad reviews, so I will stay with 2004 (version 9) for now. I am actually learning of town names as I land at different airports. There is also the ability to "slew" the aircraft over much of the terrain between large states. This makes it go much faster than engines alone. This should be in the help or something. With a good joystick, it really makes you glad to play such a well-made game.
Bought when first released
Just have to say, even though the new FSX version is out now, until available hardware/systems improve enough to run it well, I'll stick with FS9 version. ^M
unsure of cause
I have F/S 2000 installed and it works beautifully. When I upgraded to F/S 2004 I noticed the smoothness of 2002 was not there. On take off the aircraft lurches down the runway insead of rolling smoothly. Turns are jerky and over controlled making it very difficlult to make approach corrections smoothly and not over correct. I don't understand why this happens other than 2004 requires the #4 disk to be in the CDrom drive all the time, where 2002 does not. It plays with the installed components only. If anyone can offer an explaination or instruction I would appreciate an email at theozman^M
