It does not slow your computer down on boot-up and shut down (and otherwise). I was surprised how much faster my PC performed after uninstalling Norton and installing OneCare. This would have been enough to sell me, but (reason #2): it costs much less, too! It doesn't have phishing check, but if you use Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), you don't need it, since IE7 already has the phishing detector built-in.
