Awful After I first loaded the program, I turned on my Modem, and the program asked if I could trust everything that came through the modem from the internet. I said 'No'. McAfee proceeded to block every attempt to connect to the internet. I deleted the program, but the internet remained blocked.^M
This 3-in-1 VirusScan Plus 2007 is good enough and never slow down my lowest Pentium 2.00 GHZ performance This version is a stand-alone solfware. The 3-in-1 is good enough and does not slow down my lowest Pentium 2.00GHZ desktop among 5 including laptop and desktop. To avoid errors during installation, some steps need to be done as follow:^M
Sadly, about as good as it gets This is a nice integrated package of all the security software you really need (anti-virus, firewall, and anti-spyware), with only a little unneeded bloat (e.g., site advisor, which is an optional install, and network manager, which is not). It seems to be taking up about 50 MB on my system. I got the 3-user pack and replaced Norton Internet Security 2004 plus WebRoot SpySweeper on my wife's computer and a crippled OEM McAfee that came on my computer. It's far better than either of these. Unfortunately, my experience over the last few years is that McAfee is about the best on the market. It seems that you need a dual-processor machine so one processor can be devoted to virus scanning. Norton has gotten way too slow and bloated, and after an entire weekend spent with Symantec technical support last year, when all I really wanted to do was renew my subscription, I vowed I was going back to McAfee. The install was easy, and it only took about 2 hours to download the 30 MB of updates over dialup (times 2, once for each computer). The documentation is rather limited, but the product is a lot simpler to configure than Norton, so I haven't had any problem with the settings so far. My wife's computer is running faster, and I can finally get my computer to quit virus-scanning all my network folders. |
